Overview

The Savage Group started as an oil & gas company in 1987. It has since grown into a land development company comprised of oil & gas production, mineral management, and real estate development. The Savage Group is a multi-faceted land development company focused on building long term success through oil & gas production, mineral buying, and real estate development. We strive to raise capital and enter partnerships in order to acquire and develop profitable projects.

Our History

Amtex Energy, Inc. was founded by William J. Savage in 1987. Based in Midland, Texas, the company’s sole focus for the first decade was acquiring leases and drilling oil and gas wells. Amtex continued to grow in assets, and in the early 2000’s Mr. Savage expanded the company into real estate development with assets in Frisco, Roanoke, and Fort Worth, Texas. As industries and projects diversified, Savage Group was formed to manage capital raising and partnerships across all industries invested. Today, Savage Group is based in Fort Worth, Texas and continues to grow in both energy and real estate development.

  • 1987

    Amtex Energy Inc. was formed as an operational drilling company in Midland, Texas by William J. Savage.

  • 2001

    After many successful drilling projects, Amtex Energy diversified its assets by investing in its first real estate asset, which later became QwikWash America in Frisco, TX.

  • 2003

    BBL Falcon was founded as a service company that invented and patented the Falcon containment liner, a liner that better protected the environment and minimized oil spill opportunities. Savage Group sold the company in 2009.

  • 2011

    As Savage Group continued to grow and diversify in Oil and Gas and real estate, Charis Royalty was formed as a mineral assets branch of the company.

  • 2017

    Savage Group sold a large asset through Amtex Energy and invested a number of real estate projects throughout the DFW area.

Leadership Team

William J. Savage

Founder

After graduating from Texas A&M University in 1980 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mr. Savage began work for Amoco Production Company as a petroleum engineer in Odessa, Texas. He was transferred to Houston, Texas in 1984. In 1987, after seven and a half years with Amoco, Mr. Savage founded Amtex Energy, Inc. as a privately owned, independent oil and gas company that operates oil and gas wells in Texas and New Mexico. Shortly after founding the company, Mr. Savage moved back to Midland, Texas in 1988. After years of growth in oil and gas, Mr. Savage diversified into the real estate industry as well. Today, Mr. Savage serves as manager and CEO of the Savage Group, which has multiple companies that are partnerships in land and energy. The corporate office is currently located in Fort Worth, Texas.

Tate Savage

Vice President

Tate F. Savage, Vice President, graduated from the University of Tulsa’s Collins College of Business with a degree in Energy Management in 2012. Tate began his career as a Landman in 2012 when he accepted a position with ConocoPhillips Company in Midland, and then Houston, TX. In 2016 Tate joined Amtex Energy, Inc. as the Land Manager, and has since moved into the position of Vice President. Tate specializes in negotiating acquisitions and divestitures and has played a key role negotiating and closing deals collectively valued over $150MM during his career. Tate lives in Fort Worth, TX with his wife and three kids.
